Stephenie K. Smith, MSW

Cause-driven equity leader and community advocate with over 20 years of experience leveraging her social work background to address poverty, systemic inequities, and community revitalization. She specializes in organizational change, operational innovation, and leadership development, with a focus on advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
As co-founder and managing partner of Sophic, Stephenie leads efforts to operationalize equity, improve organizational structures, and align nonprofit policy with community investments, emphasizing large-scale transformation. She has also served as a Graduate Adjunct Professor, teaching operationalizing equity, and continues to serve as a trusted advisor and leader in community revitalization initiatives.
Stephenie’s extensive civic engagement includes service on local government commissions, boards, and national committees, reflecting her commitment to systemic change and holistic community wellness. She holds degrees from Fisk University and the University of Tennessee College of Social Work.
