Spring Scholarship Applications open December 1st, 2024!

  • Reasons to Believe Scholarship (Offered in the Fall)

    The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools has established the Reasons to Believe Alumni Honor Roll to honor graduates of the school district for their achievements and inspiration for today’s students. Each scholarship will be in the amount of $1,250. Scholarships will be awarded to students based on academic performance and achievement in community service. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.

  • Foundation for Excellence Scholarship

    The KCK School Foundation for Excellence has endeavored to establish scholarships for tuition, books and fees that will be paid for continuous enrollment until $5,000 is awarded. Continuous enrollment is required. Seniors at each of the district’s high schools are eligible to apply for a Foundation Scholarship.

    A student’s academic, club, community, and athletic involvement as well as awards and honors in high school will be considered in evaluating scholarship applications. An effort will be made to award scholarships based on financial need. Other scholarships and grants that have been awarded will be considered in the need analysis.

  • Foundation for Excellence – Zak Family Scholarship

    The Zak Family has endeavored to establish scholarships for tuition, books, fees, and other student needs that will be paid for continuous enrollment. Continuous enrollment is required. Up to 5 Seniors at Wyandotte High School are eligible to apply for this $1250 scholarship.

    A student’s academic, club, community, and athletic involvement as well as awards and honors in high school will be considered in evaluating scholarship applications. An effort will be made to award scholarships based on financial need.

  • Foundation for Excellence-Jill M. Hall Scholarship

    Jill M. Hall is a 2023 Reason to Believe Honoree. She attended Wyandotte High School graduating in 1982. Seniors at each of the district’s high schools are eligible to apply.

    A student’s academic, club, community, and athletic involvement as well as awards and honors in high school will be considered in evaluating scholarship applications. An effort will be made to award scholarships based on financial need.

  • Foundation for Excellence-Delilah Whitley Scholarship

    The Delila Whitley Scholarship- $1,000 will be awarded to one eligible high school senior. Delilah Whitley awards an unspecified scholarship based on endowment earnings. An eligible senior for this award must meet the following criteria:

    -Student must be a graduate of Sumner Academy, Kansas City, Kansas.
    -Students intended Major must be Education
    -Award will be used for tuition assistance for higher education, college, university, or community college.
    -The $1000 scholarship awarded is paid to the college of the student’s choice.
    *A student’s academic, club, community, and athletic involvement as well as awards and honors in high school will be considered in evaluating scholarship applications. An effort will be made to award scholarships based on financial need.

  • Foundation for Excellence- Anna Olivera Scholarship

    Anna Olivera Scholarship-$1500 Anna Olivera awards an unspecified scholarship based on endowment earnings. An eligible senior for this award must meet the following criteria:

    -First generation college student
    -Award will be used for tuition assistance for higher education, college, university, or community college.
    -The $1500 scholarship awarded is paid to the college of the student’s choice.

    *A student’s academic, club, community, and athletic involvement as well as awards and honors in high school will be considered in evaluating scholarship applications. An effort will be made to award scholarships based on financial need.

  • Connie and Donald Moritz Scholarship

    The Connie and Donald Moritz Scholarship awards a $1000 scholarship based on endowment earnings. An eligible senior for this award must meet the following criteria:

    * Student(s) must be graduates of Sumner Academy, Kansas City, Kansas.
    * Award will be used for tuition assistance for higher education, college, university, or community college.
    * Qualify for needs-based assistance, as directed by federal guidelines

    The student’s academics, club, community, and athletic involvement, as well as awards and honors in high school will be considered in evaluating scholarship applications.

    The scholarship awarded is paid to the college of the student’s choice.

  • Harvey L. Baker Scholarship

    The Harvey L. Baker Scholarship awards a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior accepted to attend Kansas City, Kansas Community College. Seniors of USD 500 high schools in Wyandotte County are eligible to apply.

    The student’s academics, club, community, and athletic involvement, as well as awards and honors in high school, will be considered in evaluating scholarship applications. Applicant awarded will be based on economic need and scholastic performance, ranked in the upper one-third of the class.

  • The John Taylor Lewis Sumner Class of 1954 Scholarship

    John Taylor Lewis was a proud alumnus and member of the Sumner Class of 1954. The John Taylor Lewis Sumner Class of 1954 Scholarship Fund results from the love for his alma mater.

    Graduating high school seniors of Sumner Academy of Arts & Science are eligible for this $1000 scholarship. A student’s academic, club, community, and athletic involvement as well as awards and honors in high school will be considered in evaluating scholarship applications.

  • Maccochaque Scholarship

    The Maccochaque Scholarship Fund awards two $3,000 scholarships to seniors studying math and computer science. Graduating seniors attending J.C. Harmon High School are eligible for this scholarship. The student’s academics, club, community, and athletic involvement, as well as awards and honors in high school will be considered in evaluating scholarship applications.
