Misty Brown Polo

Misty Brown Polo is an accomplished attorney with over 19 years of legal experience in local government. She currently serves as Deputy County Counselor for Leavenworth County, Kansas, where she advises the Commission and administration on a wide range of legal matters, litigates civil cases, and provides contract and policy review.
Previously, Misty held multiple leadership roles with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas, including Chief Counsel, where she managed a team of attorneys, served as parliamentarian at Commission meetings, and provided counsel on high-level legal and policy issues. Her earlier roles as Deputy Chief Counsel, Senior Attorney, and Assistant Attorney reflect a career dedicated to effective negotiation, dispute resolution, and supporting public administration.
Beyond her professional work, Misty is a committed community leader. She has served as President of the City Attorneys Association of Kansas, on the Legislative Policy Committee of the County Counselor Association of Kansas, and as a longtime volunteer with organizations including the Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri and the Junior League of Wyandotte & Johnson Counties.
Misty earned her J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law, studied at Cambridge University, and graduated cum laude from Cornell College with a B.A. in Political Science and English. She is licensed to practice law in Kansas and Missouri.
