Shannon Wooten

Alumni | Wyandotte High School, Class of 1989

With over 30 years in the financial services industry, Shannon brings an innovative and results-oriented approach to promoting Arvest's commitment to the community. Her expertise lies in Financial Literacy Awareness and Health and Wellness initiatives for underserved communities in Greater Kansas City. Shannon is passionate about bridging the gap between the under-banked and the mainstream, striving to create tangible, positive change. As someone who thrives on a "want to" spirit, she is dedicated to making a meaningful impact by connecting with clients on a personal level, inspiring change, and providing effective financial solutions. “My goal is to build lasting connections that empower individuals and communities.”

During her professional career, Shannon has mentored the next generation of financial leaders, including students from UMKC pursuing studies in finance. Through mentorship, Shannon aims to share knowledge, experiences, and insights to help students develop their skills and navigate the complexities of the financial industry. 

Shannon is a board member of True Light Family Resource Center, the National Congress of Black Women (Community Involvement Lead), Urban Financial Services Coalition (Marketing Chair), Community Action Agency of Greater Kansas City (Treasurer), DepotKC (President), Awesome Ambitions (Treasurer, Governance and Volunteer Committee), Value Unconditional (Advisory Board) and contributes to initiatives with Prospect Business Association.

Shannon also volunteers with the Alliance for Economic Inclusion, Housing Authority of GKC, Prep KC, and Bank On Coalition.

In her pursuit of service, Shannon is inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.'s words: "Everybody can be great because anybody can serve." I embrace my strengths and weaknesses, learning from my experiences, and remain committed to serving until God directs otherwise.
