Dr. Keith Jones

Dr. Keith Jones will be entering his 18th year in education. Dr. Jones has held leadership roles at the middle and high school levels since 2012. Specifically, he has served in Lawrence, Topeka, Platte County and Kansas City Kansas Public Schools.  He currently is in his second year at North Kansas City High School as the head principal. He has taught English, Journalism and Video Production in the classroom. Dr. Jones is a graduate of Florida A&M University, Pittsburgh State University and Baker University, where he holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism, a master’s degree in Instructional Leadership and a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership. Dr. Jones is passionate about teaching the whole child and helping students develop life skills and brings experience working in corporate America and community organizations, as well as advocating for college and career preparatory programs. Dr. Jones works closely with the BLOC Organization that supports educators of color with an emphasis on minority males. As the Program Director he helps mentor beginning teachers, provide professional development and networking opportunities for educators.  Dr. Jones has been a committed advisory member of the Amplify Conference, serving on the committee for seven years dedicating his expertise and passion for creating safe spaces for educators of color. He was recognized last year by the 100 Black Men of Greater Kansas City as the founder and first chapter president to set the foundation of scholarship, community service and brotherhood. Dr. Jones has a decorated journey being named Middle School Principal of the Year in 2017 and 2018 as he led in diverse environments changing the culture and mindset of urban education.  Dr. Jones has two sons: Leonjay (23) attends Kansas Wesleyan College and Keith Jr. (12) who will be attending seventh grade.
